Comments From The Readers

Devil Glass is a masterpiece. Cales has done the impossible, not only do you read the words, you live the words. I was completely entertained and will recommend this book to everyone I know who needs an adventure. Truly a great read.

C. Robert Cales creates a tale in Devil Glass that will have readers hanging on for a ride into the unknown.  His descriptions open up a world of colorful characters and horrors we can only hope we never have to face.

Joyce Robbins has a wonderful life marred by memories of a lost love.  It’s when she is called out to assess a mysterious object in a junkman’s garage that her life takes a skew into the pit of terror.  Missing people, shredded plastic, and frayed power cords all surround the monstrosity  that appears to be a large crystal framed in petrified wood. But is it?

In her quest to discover what the artifact is, Joyce learns some things are better left buried and forgotten.  Yet the very thing that terrifies her may just help her find what she has been longing for the most—love.

Although I usually favor titles with lightning fast action, I enjoyed the building mysteries weaved through Devil Glass.  For those who like to curl up with a book in the deep black of night and have their skin crawl at every tiny sound, this is the book for you.

If you are planning to drain a pond, please be careful. You never know what lies at the bottom of those bodies of water.  And if you find something that is shaped like a mirror with a frame of petrified logs, don't dig it up. You'll be soooorrrrrryyyy.

It just might be a match to the artifact found in a drained pond as told in the book Devil Glass , an artifact that boded ill for all who came in contact with it. This is the artifact that came into possession of Joyce Robbins, archaeologist in Lima, Ohio, for the VanBerg Museum.

Up to this time, Joyce has been living a life of quiet desperation although she does not recognize it as such.  She has everything a successful woman could want.  And more. Yet, she is not happy. Her career is the focus of her life and it is her dream, one shared by all archaeologists, to make the one discovery that will guarantee her success and recognition.

The artifact, as mysterious as its discovery, offers Joyce her chance.  And when people begin to disappear, the mystery deepens.  Joyce and others find themselves involved in a nightmare beyond imagining.

Devil Glass is a tale within a tale within yet another tale.  Written by the very talented author, Mr. C. Robert Cales, this story will keep you turning pages. I highly recommend this book to any lover of suspense, thrillers or horror as an enjoyable and satisfying read.  Enjoy.

Devil Glass is a must read for anyone who likes to curl up with a good book, as well as true fans of the Horror genre. Each character's role in this frightening tale was important no matter how big, or how small the part. I read the second HALF of the book in one sitting! Cales' creatures sink their teeth into you and won't let go until the last page.

Absolutely riveting, the plot never falters! This book rates right up there with Stephen King and Dean Koontz. The story weaves intricately and precisely from small town life to terrifying and gruesome territory. From beginning to end, this book had me on the edge. Imagine the most evil monsters of your worst nightmares come to life in your own backyard. It's good against evil in this bizarrely persuasive work of fiction. Highly recommend, a really good read.

WHAT A GREAT BOOK.  AS SOON AS YOU START Devil Glass, YOU CAN'T STOP.  YOU ARE HOOKED. I TOLD ALL MY FRIENDS THEY HAD TO PUT THIS BOOK ON THEIR READING LIST.  ONLY PROBLEM...I COULDN'T READ IT IN BED.  AFRAID OF NIGHTMARES.

I decided to read this book after hearing my wife rave about it on a daily basis while reading it. I am not a big reader, so I figured it would give me something to do for several weeks. Boy was I wrong!  I couldn't put it down!  Finished it in two days!  Great reading! Did scare me enough that I had a nightmare the first night. Looking forward to next one. Also hope Devil Glass makes it to the Theater.

So strongly detailed that you can picture this story.  It keeps you reading and reading and reading.  Devil Glass has the reader immediately feeling for each character and dreading what will happen next.  This horror is a whole other genre--other worldly--and makes the reader expand his consciousness.  I never wanted to put it down and was sorry when I had finally come to the last page.

This is one of the best stories I've read in a long time. Cales develops his characters carefully drawing the reader into their lives in a natural, gradual fashion. Despite the supernatural events that unfold as the story progresses, the verisimilitude of the author's tale is never in doubt. I have added Robert Cales to my short list of favorite authors and eagerly look forward to the next product of his vivid imagination and captivating writing style. Devil Glass is a must read for anyone who enjoys horror and romance in one package!

Devil Glass, Robert Cales' first novel, has something for everyone: Horror, intrigue, love story, complex human relationships.  They exist in varying degrees as the story winds its way through thirty years of contemporary American life. Using readily identifiable places, situations and conditions, Robert has created a story that will stay with you long after you have finished reading it.  The horror will fade but the love story will linger and in fact become your dominant memory.

Devil Glass is a thrilling book.  I couldn't stop reading it.  I was almost late for work several times because I couldn't put it down.  Cales wrote the descriptions of everything so well it put you inside the pages.  I was the characters I was reading about.  "A love story laced with horror" is right on.  Enough horror to keep an "anti-love story person" reading.  Enough love story to make me want to see how it ends.  I couldn't wait to read what happened next to the trio of friends.  It's hard to believe that this is Cales's first book.  I can't wait for the second!

Devil Glass, what a read!  When I started Devil Glass I had planned on spending three to four days reading it.  Once I started reading Devil Glass I could not put it down.  I read into the night and finished it the next day.  This is an awesome book that will get you caught up into the characters and always have you wondering what is going to happen next.  A must read for all Horror Advocates.  I think this would be a great movie. I love movies and have watched hundreds that don't even come close to the story line of Devil Glass.  Hope to see it at the theaters soon!

This is really a great book. I will actually keep this one. I usually move my books out rather quickly as I don't have room to store them, but a select few end up on my shelf for keeps. This is one of them. You will love it.

I live in the town, where this story takes place. After seeing C. Robert Cales interviewed on a local T V show, Devil Glass sounded like a "must read" horror thriller. I was not disappointed. The attention to specific detail the author gives you, makes the story very believable. His reference to local landmarks also made the story fun to read, as I could picture just where the different events took place. I'm glad Cales continued for 18 or so years to finish the "short story" he had started. He took time to put everything together, for a thrilling conclusion. I'm looking forward to his next work in progress.
